Today, 3x GRAMMY nominated singer-songwriter Ingrid Andress releases “Seeing Someone Else” (LISTEN HERE) the second look into her highly-anticipated upcoming sophomore album. Andress co-produced the track with longtime collaborator Sam Ellis to bring the genre-pushing power ballad to life, highlighting the complexities and consequences that arise with self-growth and evolution. Watch the music video HERE.

“We all grow and change, but not everyone wants us to,” Andress shares. “Some people want to keep you exactly where you are for as long as possible, even if it’s hurting you. Sometimes you don’t even realize it’s happening. But then one day you wake up and decide the person they want you to be isn’t you anymore, so you pack your shit and break free from their grip.”

Andress continues, “Writing this song was very transformative for me and I wanted the production to really reflect that and represent the music that I listen to and am constantly inspired by. ‘Seeing Someone Else’ was one of the moments on the record where I went a little ‘mad scientist’ and was like ‘okay what would it sound like if we add some synth here, keep pedal steel there, but have an acoustic guitar here?’ This song has truly become one of my favorites from the new music, and I hope it makes you feel as liberated as I felt when writing it.”

Andress showcases her feelings visually through a mirage of dark and grainy VHS footage that follows Andress through illuminated nighttime cityscapes and dive bars. The end clip shows Andress watching the footage of herself and reflecting on her personal journey, revealing an inspiring new sense of self-awareness and independence she has found.

“Seeing Someone Else” follows Andress’ previous release “Good Person,” which she recently performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and was hailed by Rolling Stone as “a gripping examination of the way we perceive others and compare ourselves without ever knowing the full story.” Both tracks see Ingrid entering the next chapter of her career following her record-breaking debut, Lady Like, named “one of the year’s strongest albums” by Associated Press and one of Billboard’s Top 10 Best Country Albums of 2020. The celebrated LP scored Andress 3 GRAMMY nominations including Best New Artist, Best Country Album, Best Country Song for the multi-platinum No. 1 radio single “More Hearts Than Mine.” Andress is also a 4x ACM Award, 3x CMA Award and 2x CMT Music Award nominee.

Last August, Andress released “Wishful Drinking” featuring Sam Hunt, which has been climbing the country radio charts and was praised by V Magazine as “a moving country-pop ballad that perfectly combines Andress’ soft pitch and Hunt’s husky vocals.” The fan-favorite track has proved to be a streaming success garnering over 100 million global streams to date, debuting at #8 on Spotify’s all-genre Top 10 USA Song Debuts Chart and remaining within the Top 20 on their Hot Country chart since its release. With nearly a billion global streams, Andress will join Keith Urban for his 52-date North American “The Speed of Now World Tour” starting in June.
